The M.S. Program in Electrical Engineering is designed with a focus on research. This research program is supported by extensive research funding (the Department's annual research expenditures are over $36 million) as well as numerous state-of-the-art research laboratories.

The research programs of the department cover a wide spectrum of activities in the two broad areas of (i) Information Sciences and Systems which consists of Communications and Signal Processing, Computer Engineering, and Controls; and (ii) Electronic Sciences and Devices, which consists of Electrophysics and Microelectronics.
