Writing Center

Whether you need help shaping a topic for your research paper or figuring out APA style, the USMH Writing Center is here to offer guidance. The staff will review your paper and recommend revisions, as the goal is to empower students to become capable, independent academic writers. The center also offers books ranging from grammar and style resources, to writing references that are specific to your field of study. The editors’ schedule is posted each semester, however, the staff is happy to accommodate flexible scheduling if needed.

Resume writing and editing is also available through the writing center. Resume resources can also be found on College Central Network.

For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please contact Jamie Bushong at 240-527-2717 or writingcenter@hagerstown.usmd.edu

Career Development Center

The Center is a one-stop career development service for students. The center offers a library of books on job search topics, as well as online resources. College Central Network (CCN), a comprehensive career development tool, provides students the opportunity to set up individual accounts and create and build their job search portfolio. This tool will provide information on resume building, cover letter writing, and interview techniques, as well as federal job application assistance, company profiles, and job search strategies.

How-to workshops will also be scheduled throughout the semester. Workshops will be advertised through our website or on our Facebook page: University System of Maryland at Hagerstown.
