The safety of our students and staff is our upmost priority. USMH collaborates with the Hagerstown Police Department to investigate and prosecute violations of criminal laws at the College.

USMH Emergency Documents and Campus Alerts

  • The safety of students, staff, and faculty is a top priority of the administration at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH). In order to ensure campus safety the staff at USMH have prepared an Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) that provides broad guidance for how USMH operates in case of an emergency. .  

  • In order to enact the processes detailed in the Emergency Preparedness plan and ensure individuals react appropriately to each emergency, USMH has created the Emergency Procedures Reference Guide.

  • USMH documents and reports crimes in accordance with the Clery Act. Our reporting is included in the Frostburg State University report as they serve as our coordinating institution. Below are links to better understand the crime statistics at USMH.

  • The University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH) campus alert system allows USMH to contact you during an emergency by sending text messages to your e-mail and/or cell phone.

    When an emergency, weather-related delay, or weather-related closure occurs, USMH staff will notify you using the Omnilert system with real-time updates and other critical information.

    In the event of inclement weather or other emergency conditions, you should follow delays and closures for the "University System of Maryland at Hagerstown," regarding building access for classes rather than any individual participating USM institution. Closures and delays will be sent over the Omnilert notification system, posted to our USMH website, and shared to our social media pages.
