The Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MMS-PAS)* program at Frostburg State University (FSU) at USMH is a professional degree program intended to prepare students academically and professionally for responsibilities, services, and leadership as a Physician Assistant. This graduate education program consists of two phases spanning 24 months to include intersessions and summers with a total of 117 credits. Phase I (didactic phase) represents the pre-clinical year and spans the first 12 months, representing 74 program credits.

Program Purposes

This program is designed for certified teachers to prepare for entry level positions in administration and supervision by providing knowledge, theories, techniques, skills, and concepts appropriate to the field through lecture, simulation, case study, role playing, in-basket activities, and other appropriate methods.

To be a social worker, one must have a degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). SU’s Social Work Undergraduate Program, accredited since 1974, prepares graduates through the use of both standard classroom study and practical field experience. The latter, which is critical to social work education, is provided in social agencies throughout the area to provide seniors with the "hands on" experience necessary to develop entry level skills.

Graduates of the program are awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW).

Psychology (B.S.)

The Liberal Studies program offers a broadly-based curriculum and a wide range of options in lieu of the more specialized coursework required in other major programs. Although 48 credit hours are required to major in Liberal Studies, the expanded (hence "liberal") choices permit students to design much of their own educational structure beyond the General Education Program (GEP).

Management information systems are a critical part of the strategic decision-making process in virtually all of today's public and private organizations.

In the Business Administration program, students must choose a concentration area. They can concentrate in general management, human resource management, small business/entrepreneurship, marketing or finance.

NOTE: only two of these Concentrations are offered at the USMH: General Management and Small Business/Entrepreneurship.
